Languishing is not just for Losers

We’re feeling low

Moving slow

Neither depressed nor thriving,

All cylinders not firing

What’s wrong with me?

We ask

The world has slowed

Enough for us to see

The broken parts

We’ve always known

But were going too fast

Now we can’t go back

We’ve changed

The world rearranged

And we’re still finding our fit

Our place, our position

And it’s okay that we’re

Languishing, because

Languishing is not just for losers

Out of the mouth of babes

Who say how they feel

Without editing their thoughts

Or hiding their truth

Where feelings cause tears

That fall from their eyes and heal.

In a culture of positivity

We wear smiles on our sleeves

Instead of our hearts

Ashamed if we’re not

succeeding, achieving

But here’s the secret:

Languishing is not just for losers

It’s okay to be in the

In-between

The liminal space

Where we germinate like seeds

Waiting for a new season

It’s transition

And transition is always a place for growth.
